There is nothing *new* that really turns my head these days and no, I'm not into electronics really, so, yeah, nothing new really.
It's true.
C'mon, makes sense if you think about it. I live in a 50 plus year old park model trailer with a 15' x 50' addition (the studio, lol). I love love love my original blonde high gloss wood paneling, formica counters and age & color appropriate electrical (appliances) conversions from the original propane. I choose to live here, in this lovely little thing with it's masses of built in closets & drawers, strange straggly shag carpet & ridiculous plumbing (working on that still, lol). It has a nostalgic charm that outweighs it's fixable (working working working on it) quirks.
Besides, the view is chocolate syrup frosting on the brown betty brownie; rich & unnecessary but oh so completing :)
Most of the glass & decor I love is from the around the era that this trailer was produced. I mostly use (and actually hunt out) household gear that was produced before or around the year this trailer was produced. I hide the microwave in a cupboard
(now you see it...)
(Now you don't...)
but my Oster (blender) I inherited from my grandparents (they got it as a wedding gift) sits proudly on my tiny counter.
Yes, I own a frigging bread box and actually use it. :) It looks horribly grubby right now (it's copper) but you then you just touch it & it looks horribly grubby
And I guess I am such a stuck up snooty snot that I don't want the latest things, I want mine to be not your average decor. I want it to be mine, to be as original as I can get it. It's been said that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery but I can't stand that copycat bs! I want it to be hard for someone to copy, if not almost impossible. Retro is one way, the other is to make your own and I'm just not talented enough to make my own everything. This is my compromise :) so, Santa, could you please help me out?
:)
