Surfing Sunday March 10th...aka Spring daylight savings

Easter is at the end of this month and technically that gives me 20 days to get ready but we all know how my time disappears so I'm attempting to get a jump on it and planning on trying out some of these great recipes. The first three are "copy cat" recipes I found while surfing and while I'm not a huge fan of cadbury's cream eggs (love the little mini creamy milk chocolate eggs of theirs...oh yeah...trouble...) I really want to try these...they look way more appetizing than the originals they are modeled after :)

The next recipe up incorporates one of my favorite combos: chocolate and peanut butter. These are cute and promise to be delicious as well.

Third down the line is something I love and is not "Easter-y" but had to include it anyway as who can pass up the copycat for the girl scout thin mint cookies? Not I said the chocolate mintoholic, not I...

This is going to be like most of my posts lately: Short (and considering the main subjects: SWEET!) I've been fighting the flu, fighting the fibro, fighting the stress from fighting---can't we all just get along?? Answer: HELL NO! But...feeling somewhat better for now. Right now anyway, lol.

Looking for Easter crafts for the kids and the nieces and nephews and found some great egg and egg SHELL crafts to try:

Tutorial for this project is here at Instructables in a pdf file. All I can say is WOW. Who'd a thunk? Nice :)

Here's another jewelry example from over at etsy:

and from Marlene's Craft Studio: Egg Shell Table Top - Make it Mosaic! is this gorgeous idea:

and of course, egg yolk paint---the quick & easy DIY kind---my favorite, lol:

Egg Yolk Paint: A beautiful glossy paint that Michelangelo used on the Sistine Chapel (and is still bright hundreds of years later). And you can make it in two minutes at home for just pennies! Mix one egg yolk with five drops of food coloring (I stir it with a craft stick in the half shell). Get your paint brush out and paint your own work of art!

And to wrap this up, another reason (if we don't have enough already, lol) to save eggshells: I am doing this for next year. It's number 3 on the list of major holiday crafts, lol.

Make a fascinating snow storm in a jar.
Supplies needed:
small baby food jar
glitter, foil confetti or eggshells
glue for snow globe: clear silicone sealant (Aquarium sealant)
florist clay(if using tiny toy)
tiny toy or greenery
distilled water or water that has been boiled and cooled
glycerin or mineral oil or baby oil
ribbon
Adult help required with glueing.
Put something interesting in the jar, such as a small toy like a tiny snowman. In order to elevate the scene so it is in clear view, glue a plastic lid inside the jar lid or build up the area with a little extra florist clay. Be sure to leave the edges clear so you have room to screw on the lid. Fill the jar up to 1/4 inch from the rim with water.Prepare your snow using the shell from a hard boiled egg. Separate the shell from the membrane, place in a ziplock bag, and crush with a rolling pin. Finer particles will fall more slowly in the snow globe and have a more pleasing effect. Avoid crushing eggshell into a powder as it will simply float in the water instead of falling gently. Add several drops of glycerin or mineral oil or baby oil to the water to keep the snow suspended and floating properly. Spoon in some glitter(not too much though). Seal the lid with a bead of silicone sealant around the threads of the lid and close tightly. When the glue is dry, turn the jar upside down and watch it snow. Wrap and glue a thin ribbon around the outside lid of the jar. These snow globes are great winter crafts for kids!

And that is going to wrap up this week. I'm still not back in full running speed but I'm closer than I was. For now, I'm off for that ever elusive nap...
