Question of the Week #23
Today (Monday) is our kick-off to start the preparations for our family's Thanksgiving gathering on Thursday. The turkey is in the bottom of the fridge to thaw, baking will be started tomorrow and other basic prep work for menu items will be completed in the next three days. It is a big deal for us this year :)
My family is of Irish, Scottish, Scandinavian and Native American descent and in our house we do have some special traditional dishes we prepare for our meal of Thanksgiving that we really look forward to and rarely eat the rest of the year.
This year because things are tight budget-wise and I am just not up to that much cooking we will be forgoing some of our usual items and keeping it pretty basic. This is also the first year that I am preparing a Thanksgiving gathering / meal in my home in over ten years. I'm a little nervous and a little gung-ho about it all too.
We give Thanks daily in our home but I'm really looking forward to gathering with my family for this special meal.
Some of the items we will eat on Thursday we made sure to gather in advance (wild blackberries, chantrelles & venison) so we would have them specifically for this meal. Friends and family who come for Thanksgiving dinner will usually bring a favored dish of their own to share as well.
Do you celebrate Thanksgiving? And if so, how do you celebrate?
Do you prepare a meal or just have a gathering or go out?
And what is on your menu for Thanksgiving?
What are some "traditional" Thanksgiving or celebration dishes in your family?
Looking forward to hearing your answers!

Happy Monday to all <3
