Question of the Week #49

So it was a crazy-busy holiday weekend here with a big backroads trip on Saturday up into the Olympic Mountains, up one side and down the other through the Olympic National Forest looking for prospective camp sites for an upcoming group camp event. The snow is mostly gone and Spring is in full throttle on the ridges and in the valleys. Oh the scenery was amazing :) I put some pics up on my personal page if anyone is interested, but I didn't get any of the really good stuff, I forgot at times I had my camera I was enjoying looking everywhere so much.

Sunday there was our big family gathering at 1 pm at my mom's (across the lake from me). Moving slow from the day before I didn't get up until 1:30 but was dressed and there by 2 p.m. You'd think I'd be embarrassed by showing up to my joint birthday party late, un-showered and in sweat pants but I wasn't, I just told them where we were the day before and there was nothing to worry about, lol, everyone was interested in what we'd seen in our travels as they love that area too.

Sunday I also met my newest nephew (5 months old) and held my baby-est brother's only child. Got a little misty-eyed as the little bugger looks just like him, especially when loudly angry when getting a diaper change, lol. Said baby-est brother (youngest of six) is going to be 33 on his next birthday. Being the oldest of the bunch, this was a big emotional moment for me.

Early Monday morning (about 3-6:30 a.m.) my dog Temperance had her puppies. After making sure mom and babies were all doing well I went back to bed and slept until 1 p.m. (again).

So Monday for some reason through the weird time-warp that happens sometimes with "brain-fog" felt like Sunday and by early evening I really thought it was Sunday. I didn't realize it was actually Tuesday until I checked my alarms to make sure they were on (for later) when I woke up at 2 a.m. for puppy check.

Tuesday, but it still feels like a Monday, lol.

I had a very full weekend and I saw some beautiful country on Saturday and one place in particular we went, Spider Lake is sticking in my mind and the memory of the water keeps coming back. The water of Spider Lake has always entranced me and describing it doesn't do it justice but we are due back there in about 3 weeks so I will see if I can get some pictures to do the talking. The lake is surrounded by tall evergreens in a valley and you can see glimpses of it, peering through the trees and brush, high up on the road but have to walk a steep trail on one end to access it. The water is amazing, on one end it is a cool blue in the center with white radiating out, it looks almost like a metallic baby blue silver foil backed bead. That crazy gorgeous color slowly changes to a beautiful deep emerald green at the other end of the lake. Just wow. I think I am going to use it for an inspiration piece because that amazing water just won't leave my mind. Good thing we are going back up there soon...and my son (the driver) was just as enchanted his first time seeing it as well so definitely no arguments from him, in fact he wants to go back up there next weekend to see if there are easier access points for his mom (and others, lol) because he would like to set that for our group camp event if feasible but we have to keep it easy access for the old and disabled(s) that are going.

OK, this is long and rambling but hey, it's also Tuesday and not Monday too, lol (truly sorry about that ladies). The questions of the week are two-fold:

What if anything, did you do for Memorial day weekend?

and

Is there anything you have seen while you were out and about recently that has inspired or is currently inspiring a piece of work or a work in progress?  And if so, what and why?

OK...Looking forward to hearing your answers!

Please remember to submit your suggestions & questions to: spdychevy@gmail.com with Question in the subject line and we'll get your question up here soon!

Happy Tuesday to all

Shann
