and it must be a good one, I survived the GI doc (OMG that sucked horribly!!!) and been sleeping & running to the loo & sleeping, sleeping, sleeping in between the trots. This should be resolved within less than 24 hours (I'm hoping anyway).
The news was good in the fact that I don't have enough problems for surgery (but my insurance wouldn't cover the surgery so...) and the problems I do have wouldn't be fixed by the procedure that is covered by the insurance.
So, the GI doctor told me to pretty much stay on the same diet (FODMAP) that she put me on, that the regular doctor took me off months ago, that the GI doc would have known if she read my records as I called her nurse and left a message concerning the whole issue when it was happening. (I told her again during this appointment he took me off of it and that I have no issues with dairy etc.) It is the metformin tearing my system apart and nothing can be done at this time concerning the metformin. :( The combination of the FODMAP and cessation of taking Loperamide (Immodium AD) almost put me in the hospital, which is why the regular doc took me off. I have no food triggers or allergies other than certain types of fatty meat (which I avoid like the plague) and Coke...coca cola...which I limit to once a week. I can't cut it out completely, I'm hooked on Coke & Ice (no booze, just coke & ice). She made a mean face but was wisely quiet as I said if I'm having severe issues I skip my weekly treat as well. I'm not stupid. Really.
So she prescribed me some lidocaine cream for my rear which would have been a relief in more ways than one but it turns out is not covered by the insurance either. I called the nurse and told her the problem and asked her if the doc could write a prescription for "substitutions OK" on the cream so maybe generic would be covered and she did and an hour later I got another call from the pharmacy, the medicine has to be special order and it won't be there for over a week. OK...moving on...
So basically, nothing bad came up. She took biopsies from 5 different sites and those results will be back within 2 weeks. I am just going back on my diet that worked for me, the worst of this week is behind me is how I'm going to look at this mostly waste of time and my job for the rest of the week is just resting and getting myself back on track after this huge GI system upset.
Hope you are all doing well :) I am off for yet another nap.
Happy Tuesday
