I would like to thank GHSO for coming so quickly this morning around 2/3 a.m. in response to our call concerning the disturbed man screaming and running up and down the street, who was (in between bouts of inarticulate primal screams) yelling about killing and effing someone up. We don't like to call, we like peace, quiet and sleep but this guy was either in distress or going to be putting someone in distress.
The officer who came was very nice but found no one (of course this incident confirms the @ssholes in the neighborhood have a scanner) and was low key about pulling in front of our house (lights off) and coming to our door. We have people in this neighborhood who sometimes try to be retaliatory or confrontational when inebriated so we like try to be low key but sometimes you have to take action---especially when people might be in danger.
I was glad the officer was nice because the dispatcher got a little testy with me when I called because I told her No, I couldn't see anything out my windows, everyone in the neighborhood could hear him screaming and no, I wasn't going to open my door to pinpoint said disturbed man's location. I really have no urge to BabeRuth some stupid/whacked/drunk mofo any day of the year, especially early Christmas morning which could have been a very likely thing to happen considering where screaming freaking out man was in proximity to my front door. I am sympathetic to a point but not when my family might be endangered, then buddy it's on like DonkeyKong.
Again, the officer was awesome (thank you) and the dispatcher was...meh...which is how it has been in the past when we've had to call and that's OK, I'd rather have polite effective law enforcement officers and rude dispatchers than the other way around any day of the week. Thank you Grays Harbor Sheriff's Office for your prompt response.
