Question of the Week #33

Question of the Week #33

So I've been busy going through boxes in the shop (my boxes and others) and I've had storage issues to resolve as well and been fighting this cold that has invaded our house but is not the flu (YAY! We are all very happy about that!) I came across some old heavier gauge copper wire that had darkened up and got thinking about how to brighten it up again, if that was possible. I'd remembered hearing something about vinegar and salt... or lemon juice or ? So I headed to my local research portal and jumped on the 'net, looking for possible answers. I found out a lot but what intrigued me was the use of ketchup to clean copper and brass. REALLY? Yes. Amazing and simple. My kind of trick.

Did I ever mention I collect and use RevereWare? Well, this afternoon I'm going to have some gorgeous shiny pots & pans in the kitchen, thank you ketchup! I use vinegar a lot in my house, from laundry to window cleaning but until I came across the question of cleaning up my darkened copper I never thought to use it on metal.

This got me to thinking, besides this nifty trick for cleaning copper, what other tricks have you all heard of to clean metals and other things for household use and your crafts and art? Homemade or ready made, is there some cleaning solution you swear by that removes gunk or junk or strips or ? This includes paint and even grease.

OK...Looking forward to hearing your answers!

Please remember to submit your suggestions & questions to: spdychevy@gmail.com with Question in the subject line and we'll get your question up here soon!

Happy Monday to all <3
