Question of the week #63

During Sunday Morning Craftiness over at my Mom's she noticed that I laid all my tools and supplies out with precision...which I then proceeded to promptly rifle through and leave in disarray when I got rolling...but I know exactly where everything is when I do creating this way.

When it was time to go she then watched me quickly put everything away EXACTLY as I had unpacked it and looking at it you would never realize the clutter-rama that my work area had been just moments before.

I told her the reason I have this routine is that the process of laying everything out nicely and precisely is like the starting blocks for my creative whirlwind tendencies. It seems to "unlock" the artistic (and messy it seems) part of my brain that kicks in when I am in "create" mode. Then when I'm done playing/working on my project, the "business" side kicks back in and makes sure everything is put away correctly so I can find it the next time I want to work on a project and I don't waste time looking for tools etc when I could be working/playing making something. I call the process "controlled chaos" (lol) but she said she couldn't work like that and be able to put everything back exactly like I did.

Her crafting work style is very different and much more tidy than mine while in process but I would be completely lost if I tried to do things her way. Which leads me to this week's questions:

1.) Where are you more creative – do you need an area that’s neat and tidy, or a more cluttered environment?

2.) What is your creative style?

Looking forward to hearing your answers!
