Rosie, the great big cream puff...
This is Rosie. She's an 8 year old Appy/Percheron who's over 18 hands tall with feet slightly larger than salad plates. She is a beautiful stawberry roan, which means she's a gorgeous red that looks like somebody dusted her with powdered sugar. She has such a sweet disposition the description is fitting :) She has a somewhat bad reputation for being hard to control but really, I think it's because she's so big and not badly behaved at all and she's been dealing with intimidated (because of her size) and inexperienced riders. She is really a great big cream puff sweetie.
I am falling in love with her which is not good. She's not mine and she never will be. She's earmarked for my baby sis. My sis who pretty much has the equivalent riding experience of an eight year old riding the pony rides yearly at the local fair for half their lives. I've got more fingers than the times she's been riding and she's almost 35. OK, I'll stop there. This love affair is already doomed because Rosie is pretty much untouchable. Oh, I know I'll be able to go catch her, lead her around, hold her for the black smith and brush her out, feed her etc. But I'll never be able to ride her out and she'll never be ridden enough. What a waste of a beautiful horse.
OK...outta here for now. This post sounds like I'm whining and maybe I am a little but I'm also reliving the wonder and joy of brushing out and enjoying the company of such a beautiful example of pure horsey goodness. It was awesome :) and frankly, if it wouldn't have been so freaking cold, I'd still be out there. Yes. I would.
